FBI Arrests Two Men – The FBI has announced the arrest of two Massachusetts men in connection with an explosion at Harvard Medical School’s Goldenson Building over the weekend. Authorities have confirmed that the blast, which occurred early Saturday morning, was intentional, though fortunately no one was injured.

The explosion occurred just before 3 a.m. on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building, located at 220 Longwood Avenue in Boston, which houses laboratories and offices of the school’s neurobiology department.
A Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officer responded to a fire alarm at the building and observed two masked suspects fleeing the scene. The officer attempted to stop them but was unsuccessful. Once inside, the officer discovered the aftermath of the explosion.
The Boston Fire Department’s Arson Unit assessed the site and confirmed that a single device was used and the explosion appeared to be intentional. A sweep of the building by the Boston Police Department found no additional explosive devices. Harvard officials also confirmed that the building sustained no structural damage and all labs and equipment remained fully operational.
FBI Arrests Two Men and Investigates
The arrests were made by the FBI’s Boston Joint Terrorism Task Force, in partnership with the Harvard University Police Department. FBI Director Kash Patel praised the collaborative efforts, stating on social media:

Details of the arrests were set to be announced by Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Leah Foley at a scheduled news conference. Surveillance images of the suspects, released by Harvard University, show masked individuals in hooded clothing and face coverings fleeing the building.

Following the explosion, cleaning crews and security teams ensured the site was cleared and fully operational for the start of the work week. Harvard University Police continue to maintain an increased presence across the Longwood campus while the investigation remains ongoing.
Local reactions from nearby residents and staff reflected both concern and reassurance. Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox expressed confidence in holding the perpetrators accountable, while nearby workers emphasized that the area remains safe despite the incident.
