According to authorities, Vonte Davis was discovered unresponsive after a house assistant called about a medical emergency.
Police confirmed that Vontae Davis was dead upon arrival. While several cars have been seen entering the property, police state that no foul play is suspected.
A former college classmate of Vonte Davis, now an assistant coach, confirmed the sad news, expressing condolences to the Davis family.
Vonte Davis attended Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C., before playing college football at the University of Illinois from 2006 to 2008.
He was selected in the first round, 25th overall, by the Miami Dolphins in the 2009 NFL Draft.
During his NFL career, Vontae Davis played for the Miami Dolphins from 2009 to 2011, the Indianapolis Colts from 2012 to 2017, and the Buffalo Bills in 2018.
He earned Pro Bowl honors twice, in 2014 and 2015, and was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team in 2009.
Vontae Davis also received first-team All-Big Ten recognition in 2007 and 2008 during his college years.
Vontae Davis played a total of 121 games over his 10 seasons in the NFL. He recorded 396 total tackles, 2.0 sacks, 22 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles.
He will be remembered for his passion and commitment to the game.
After finishing his time playing football, Vontae Davis started a new job as the Chief Executive Officer at DHG in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.
He leads the Davis Family Hospitality Group, which operates a luxury transportation service. Vontae Davis, the former NFL cornerback, was married to Megan Harpe, who is a lawyer specializing in family law.
They were in a relationship for over a decade and got engaged in 2013. Their wedding took place in 2015 at the renowned St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico. However, it’s uncertain if they had any children together.
Vontae Davis older brother, Vernon Davis, also had a successful NFL career, playing for teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Washington Commanders before retiring in 2020.
