Young Pakistani-American Cricketer Irfan Malik Passed Away in New York
According to details, 44-year-old Irfan Malik was playing a match with his cricket team, the “Strikers,” against the “United Kings” at Van Cortlandt Ground as part of the Commonwealth League matches.
Malik’s team bowled first, with Malik delivering five overs. After completing the innings, he stepped off the field with his team as they began their batting.
Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Zafar, who has known and played with Malik for years, recounted the incident.
He mentioned that Malik felt thirsty and informed his teammates that he was going to fetch water. Malik had barely walked twenty steps in the park when he suddenly collapsed.
Fellow players rushed to assist him but found him unconscious. A doctor present on the field administered CPR and attempted to revive him while an ambulance was called.
The ambulance took Malik to a nearby hospital on Broadway, where he received medical treatment. Unfortunately, the doctors confirmed his death.
Irfan Malik hails from a village in Sialkot. He is survived by two widows and five children.
His teammates and the Pakistani-American community have expressed profound grief and sorrow over his passing, remembering him as a kind, dedicated, and great human being and athlete.
