Fatal Small Plane Crashes Per Year

In the United States, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reports around 1,500 general aviation accidents annually, with about 200-300 of these being fatal.

This translates to roughly 400-500 fatalities each year. Globally, exact numbers are harder to determine due to different reporting standards, but it’s estimated that there are several hundred fatal small plane crashes worldwide each year.

Common causes include pilot error, mechanical failure, and weather conditions.

Despite advancements in technology, improved training, and stricter regulations aimed at enhancing safety, small aircraft accidents continue to happen due to the inherent risks of flying.
