Thomas Massie and Carolyn Grace Moffa Wedding Announcement and Ceremony Details
Thomas Massie revealed that he and Carolyn were legally married in Kentucky on October 19, 2025, by the pastor of the church they have attended for several months. The couple celebrated their Christian wedding ceremony in Pennsylvania, where Carolyn is originally from, surrounded by close friends and family.
The intimate ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Senator Rand Paul, Representatives Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Warren Davidson, and Victoria Spartz. However, as Massie lovingly shared, “the real VIPs were my three grandkids.” His oldest grandson even served as the ring bearer, making the day truly special.

A Love Story Years in the Making
Massie shared that he first met Carolyn professionally over a decade ago, when she worked as Senator Rand Paul’s Agriculture Policy Staffer until 2016. She was one of the early advocates for “Making America Healthy Again” and even visited Massie and his late wife Rhonda at their grass-fed cattle farm in Kentucky several years ago.
Carolyn Moffa, who had never been married before, is known for her dedication to agricultural and health policy and her long-standing ties to Kentucky. Massie proposed to her on the steps of the Library of Congress, a meaningful location as it was the site of their first date.
Life on the Farm and Their Future Plans
The couple will reside together on Massie’s off-the-grid cattle farm in Garrison, Kentucky, where Carolyn has already played an active role in helping re-establish ducks and chickens alongside the farm’s beef cattle. Massie mentioned that they plan to travel frequently between Washington, D.C., and Kentucky as his congressional duties require.
Adding a personal touch to their wedding celebration, the couple served raw milk with the wedding cake and margaritas made with frozen peaches from their farm — a nod to their self-sufficient lifestyle and agricultural roots.
Remembering His Late Wife, Rhonda Howard Massie
Before finding love again, Thomas Massie was married to his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Howard, for 31 years. The two attended MIT together, where both earned degrees in mechanical engineering. Rhonda tragically passed away on June 27, 2024, at the age of 51. The couple shared four children, all now adults and married, as well as three grandchildren.
Massie has often spoken about his late wife with deep affection, noting that he continues to miss her every day. His long marriage to Rhonda and their shared life on their Kentucky farm shaped much of his personal and political outlook.
Massie’s Sustainable Lifestyle and Innovations
Thomas Massie is widely known not just for his political career but for his environmentally sustainable lifestyle. He built his timber-frame home from scratch on his Kentucky cattle farm, chronicling the process on his blog “Building a Timberframe Home From Scratch.” The home is completely off-the-grid, powered by solar panels and a repurposed Tesla Model S battery that he retrofitted to power the property.
As an early adopter of electric vehicles—owning a Tesla Model S since 2013—Massie often refers to himself as “the greenest member of Congress.” He continues to apply his background as an inventor and engineer to promote innovation and self-reliance, even while serving in public office.
Public Life and Media Moments
Massie, who describes himself as a Methodist, has long been a colorful figure in American politics. In December 2021, he drew attention for posting a family Christmas photo featuring guns, which came shortly after the Oxford High School shooting. He later said the post was not intended to offend but admitted it “kicked the hornet’s nest.”
Outside politics, he once appeared as a contestant on the TV series “Junkyard Wars” in 2002, showcasing his inventive and hands-on engineering skills.
A Fresh Start and Future Together
Thomas Massie’s new marriage to Carolyn Grace Moffa represents not just a personal milestone but a renewal of hope after deep loss. As he shared in his announcement, “Please pray for us as Carolyn steps into the arena with me. With her support, I look forward to continuing my fight for freedom for the great people of Kentucky.”
